A Bit About Me

Having to check the watch because time moves too fast instead of not moving at all while at work was something I never thought I would experience, but that is exactly what Surface Design does for me.

I have spent almost six months as an intern at Volvo Cars, working in their Interior class-a team and loved every second of it. During my months at Volvo Cars I have been part of both personal and real projects. For my portfolio and to get set up I built an EX30 Tunnel and a Steering Wheel (class-a) in ICEM.

I have also been part of a real interior project where we worked towards the class-a release. Going to weekly meetings with construction and getting design input, making my internship at Volvo Cars feel as real as it can get.

Except for my internship at Volvo Cars I spent one and a half year at YRGO where we worked on our skills in several different softwares such as ICEM Surf, Alias Autodesk, Blender & Catia V5. We have worked with both concepts & class-a projects with my personal preference being class-a. I find the technical part of class-a modelling to interest me more. Diving deeper into the relationship between surfaces and to keep a clean topology, having problems to settle for “good enough”. With that said I have a deep respect for concept modellers with their quick problem solving solutions and ability to build with rocket speed.

On Top of my love for surface modelling I have a great interest in cars. Growing up with a father who looked at cars with a deep passion I have truly been influenced by him and built a passion of my own. That might even be the best part with my internship, getting to experience real cars up close. Having the ability to touch and to review not only Volvo but other brands as well. Cars excite me and at the same time fill me with wonder. The fact that even the minor of corners and surfaces get hours upon hours of attention to create the most perfect and fulfilling design. That doesn't even include the engineering that hides behind those surfaces, never in my life have I been so humbled as when I first got to see the work only visible to the ones who create the cars.

With that said I am a married woman and mom of two, who adores spending time with my family. No matter if it's a family picnic at the park, another building (read reparation) project of our house or if it’s late night gaming with my husband and our friends. All my life I have always stayed close to creativity, whether by my own hands or on the computer. As a part time business I create and sell clay sculptures and art, to customers all over the world.

I hope to hear from you!

Kind regard, Emelie Borglin
