EX30 Center Console (Concept) - ICEM

Here is my concept EX30 Center Console built in ICEM Surf. This project was given to me as a start up from Volvo Cars during the first weeks of my internship.

I was given a scan of the real model to work from. An interesting part of the project was to “back track” the work of the scan model, as it was already split and the different parts flushed in different directions. Meaning I had to figure out the original relationship of the surfaces and from there build the model and later on split it into a total of twelve separated parts.

Moving from an exterior project where highlight is everything to an interior project where I was told not to look too much on the highlight as long as it looked “calm” was harder than expected.

Also there were surfaces with “dents” in them that to me made no sense at the beginning. Some time into the project I learned it was because of the surrounding objects in the car. By “denting the centerpiece it got easier to assemble the seats next to it. These “dents” are visible in the highlight pictures with the side visible.
